Wearable electronics have gained opportunities in recent years, and the last decade has been evidence of this growth Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN). They meet criteria for personalizing healthcare, communication, patient monitoring, tracking, rescue operations. The main challenge WBAN is to handle radiator's coupling with human body. An artificially generated Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structure was designed used work improve performance a microstrip patch antenna. A jeans-based antenna an EBG surface demonstrated enhance 5.5 GHz WiMAX application. use increases return loss by 20%, reasonable bandwidth 0.528 (5.271 5.749 GHz) at resonance frequency GHz. improved Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) 60%. three-layered body tissue model also on-body measurements determine EBG-based presence tissues generally reduces shifts resonance, but shifting simplified adequate gain VSWR only 2.6 percent.
